Name:
Roth Haksary
Date of Birth:
05 / 11 / 1990
Interests:
When I leave, the thing about Sunrise I will most
miss is the children.
Ambition:
I want to be in an office on a computer like Mr
Soth.
Progress:
Funding was raised for Geraldine to take Sary
to Adelaide, where she had a spinal fusion operation
to ease her scoliosis and now her back is much
straighter and this operation has added years
to her life.
Until early 2001, Sary could only get around
in her wheel chair or on all fours like a dog.
Not any more! We were able to get an operation
on her hips and she now walks upright in calipers
and a brace.
The first day she returned to the orphanage after
3 months in physiotherapy and walked through the
gates, there wasn't a dry eye in the house! She
is one of the most unforgettable characters in
the whole group.
Her playing improved so much that she was in
our orchestra and played at the Adelaide Festival
in 2002.
Sary was lucky enough to go to Australia in 2005
for a Back Fusion operation on her spine to cure
her scoliosis and also benefiting for 2 months
at a local primary school before returning to
Sunrise with Geraldine in June.
